I'm here....and look who I found

so, my trip to brooklyn began with my flight being delayed by an hour...thanks delta...but it was cool...i had nothing but time on my hands, right?...right!...so finally my plane arrives and i'm back to being excited...little did i know what was in store for me when i took my seat...so, i'm sitting there putting on my seatbelt...getting comfortable in my seat...when i see this family approaching the back of the plane...now, i had seen this family before my plane arrived and i'd thought to myself...damn, i just know with all my heart that i am going to end up sitting by them in some kind of way...which would have been fine, if it wasn't for the way that they were acting. first, of all...they were talking LOUD AS HELL...i mean, the grandmother, must have been deaf, b/c this bitch was yelling everything...and I do mean everything...and on top of that...they had a baby...ugh!...take me now Jesus...so, we board and then where do i find myself...right in between the mother and grandmother...with the father sitting directly across from me....shit...it's gonna be a long flight...then, my flight attendent, who i've named Faith Evans [read: Robert] is just trying to talk to the grandmother telling her to lower her voice for the sake of the other passengers [read: STFU!]...but she was acting like she really didn't give a fuck...so yeah...that's how my flight went...but being me, i ate my delta provided snack [see pic] and took my ass to sleep for the duration of the flight...so enough of my boring flight...when i landed, i was greeted by my good friend nyles...remember him?...the guy who was sick...well, surprise...he's feeling better....yay!!!lol...yeah, he met me at the airport and we started our 11 mile trek to my hotel from JFK...via the subway, of course...it's too damn cold for us to walk anyway in NY, although it's colder in nashville than here...go figure...so, we get on the subway and of course nyles is his wonderful, witty self...who has me in hysterics the entire ride...he's telling me about life in brooklyn...we're laughing at the people on the subway...and of course, this eventually led to us snapping a couple of photos for posterity...i mean, i have to document my time here right?...so we make it to the hotel and check in....and although, i'm tired...i am also hungry...peanuts and some sprite just are not going to satisfy the 450lb white woman who is living inside me...so, of course this means that we're sitting around in my room trying to make a decision on where to go...mind you, this is how nyles was for the entire decision making procedure [see pic to the right]...asking me what i had a taste for...honestly, i could have killed a person on the street and eaten them b/c that's the way I was feeling...[note the use of the word feeling]...but finally, nyles said fuck it, we're going to Spice, which is a thai restaurant...and me being the country bumpkin and hungry person that i was just agreed...but after the experience that nyles and i had when we went there...i think neither of us will be returning...at least to that location....just marinate on that and try and figure out WHAT WENT WRONG!lol

Brooklyn bound...

Ok, so i'm sitting here in bed and the time is 10:58pm...and being the good grad student that i am, i am definitely not reading ahead...the thing that is really on my mind is my trip to brooklyn. i leave tomorrow at 2pm and arrive at 6:20pm (about 3 hours...i'm in central time)...and i'm so freaking excited...already, my friend Phoenix (aka Josh) has plans to take me out with him and his co-workers (semi-excited...not really a club person, but new state...new state of mind, right?)...so i'm all packed here...sitting...listening to my ipod and chatting and such (sidenote: i know the time this post says [10:58pm] and the time this is actually posted are different, but i have a life too you know!)...excited but nervous. it's not my first time to NY...but it is my first time going to brookly...AND it's also my first time going in the winter (i hope i don't freeze my balls off)...anyway, being from the south, i just already know that me and cold weather just don't mix...we're like oil and water...a fat girl and a salad...you get my point...just two things that should not even be in the same proximity to each other...but i'm trying. living here in nashville has taught me a thing or two about cold weather...the other day it was 27 degrees (check the pics)...and the highs ae usually in the upper 30s...tonights temperature...12 degrees!!!...(really? like wTf?!?)...it was 15 in brooklyn...the only thing missing here is snow...but let me not say that too loud or else the ground will be covered in the morning...but i think i will be ok in NY, i just have to try and not bust my ass on the ice and snow, lol...i will continually update my blog from there...and i'm thinking of adding a video (vlog) component...opinions....thoughts...ideas

Result of Nashville's Cold weather:

UPDATE:
January 16, 2009....the weather this morning, according to the radio and my car, was 7 fucking degrees...expected to feel like -2...like seriously...what the hell is going on? Ok...now back to freezing my ass off.

Headed to NYC...lookin' mean in my skinny jean....

Ok...soooo, first of all...i'm not really going to NYC, i'm going to brooklyn...second, i won't be wearing skinny jeans...b/c umm...i haven't found any, lol...but yeah, so i'm headed to new york for like the 30th time...and it always gives me a thrill...you know...like it's the first time, everytime...i'd planned to stay with my friend nyles (hi nyles!!!)

but he's been sick and might be going home to detroit to recuperate with family...so i had to scramble like a single mother with the rent due to find a place to stay for the week that i'm there...just as a back-up b/c homeless in new york is not the business (chuch!)...so anyway, i've already been having like some of the most crazy moments ever since i booked my flight. first, nyles tells me he's moving and doesn't know if he'll be in a new place by the time i get there, so i might want to look for a hotel...ugh!...there goes $600-$700 out the window...and if i did that, i would be BROKE and no money = no shopping (say it ain't so, lol)...luckily nyles was just getting me all worked up for nothing...and thank God too b/c i really wasn't feeling shelling out that kind of money...so disaster averted...and i'm happy again...then today, he tells me about his mom wanting him to come home to recuperate...again, i go into full crisis mode...i can't really blame nyles b/c he has been telling me he was feeling sick and stuff and i know he's been going to the doctor constantly...so, i'm like fine...do what's best....lol...meanwhile, i'm dying in my head...so i immediately call my mother, my go-to gal for advice, and we discuss options...the first thing she says, no lie, is..."well, if you don't have someplace to stay, you're not going...i will lose all that money before i let you go"...i was like dang...i know this...so i bring up the idea of me charging a room...she's hesitant at first, b/c my (read: OUR) credit card is for emergencies...but i figured this counts as one, so...she caved...cut to me staying in a nice hotel for less than $600 (GO ME!!!)...and by less, i mean $5 less, lol...but it's really nice...the Nu Hotel in downtown Brooklyn (check my room!...but remember it's only a back-up plan...if nyles stays, i'll stay with him and keep my money...that means i can do more shopping lol)
